つねに坐禅をもはらす

のち代代の諸祖
[ その後、
達磨大師の坐禅を受け継いだ方々
[ Then, those who
inherited Daruma Daishi's zazen
みなつねに坐禅をもはらす
[ その皆様は、つねに
坐禅を中心に生活をなされました
[ They always lived their lives
with zazen as their center.
これをみるおろかなる俗家は
[ 普通、坐禅の姿を見ても
その意味が分かりません
[ Usually, the sight of zazen
We don't understand what that means.
実をしらず、ひたたけて坐禅宗といひき
[ それが釈尊の教えの神髄とは分からないので
[ We don't know that
it is the essence of the Buddha's teaching, so
[ 坐禅をする僧侶、不注意にそう呼んだのです
[ A zazen practicing monk,
We called it so carelessly
