正法眼蔵 辨道話（ １８６）
坐禅をすれば、修行してゆけば
ある心境を得る事が出来るだろう
心が平安で安定するだろう
何となく、そう期待しちゃいます
If you do zazen, if you continue to practice
You will achieve a certain state of mind
The mind will be peaceful and stable.
Somehow, I would expect so.
このレポートで繰り返し述べてるテーマです
身体の中に力線を引く
その線をどこまでも細くする
ある心境を享受すると言うのではなく
これは積極的行為です
It's a recurring theme in this report.
Draw a line of force through the body.
Make that line as thin as you can
This is not to say that we enjoy a certain state of mind
This is a positive act.
スタート地点ではなく、到達地点でもない
積極的行為の現在進行形
Not a starting point, not a destination
Positive action in progress
天地創造
神々は一週間で世界をお創りになられた
そして日曜日にお休みになられた
Creation
In one week the gods created the world.
And rested on Sunday.
坐禅に何を期待するかと言うと
のんびり豊かな、七日目の日曜日を期待しちゃう
What do you expect from zazen?
Expect that Sunday to be leisurely and enriching
はたして、そんなのんびり日曜日
この世界にこの宇宙に存在するでしょうか
Is there really such a lazy Sunday
exist in this world, in this universe?
聖典に記されてるのですから
存在すると観るのが健全です
しかし、その日曜日が永遠に続くのでしょうか
It's written in the scriptures,
so it's healthy to assume it exists.
But will that Sunday last forever?
天地創造は日曜日で終わらず
日曜日の次は、新たな月曜日が始まる
そう考えるのが、自然ではないでしょうか
Creation does not end on Sunday
Sunday is followed by a new Monday.
It is only natural to think of it that way.
旧約聖書の天地創造は、今も続いている
週に一度、休憩を入れるリズムで
The Old Testament Creation is still going on
with a rhythm of weekly breaks.
身体の中に力線を引き
その線をどこまでも細くしてゆく
そうして坐禅という造形を創造してゆく
Draw a line of force through the body
and make that line as thin as possible
In this way, we create the form of zazen.
坐禅は、ある完成形を目指すのではなく
創造の継続に真価があると言えます
現在進行形の天地創造に適ってるからです
Zazen is not about achieving a certain perfection.
The true value of zazen lies in the continuity of creation.
Because it fits with the ongoing Creation.
