正法眼蔵 行持 （ ２５ ）
七つには、三領衣 san-ryoe を有 tamo ちて
余衣 yoe 有ること無し
亦 被中 hi-tyu に臥 ga せず
墓場に捨ててある死人の衣服を拾って来て
それを縫い直し、着ていた
こうして作った袈裟の他に、衣類を持たなかった
He picked up the dead man's clothes
from the cemetery.
He sewed them back on.
Apart from the kesa he made in this way,
he had no other clothing.
「 持ってなかった 」 と
「 持つことは不可能だった 」 二つは意味が異なります
「 I didn't have it 」
「 It was impossible to have 」 has a different meaning
では、私達が所持できる唯一の衣服とは何か？
So what is the only garment we can possess?
この身近な身体
This familiar body
身体と言う唯一の衣服
The body is the only garment
これは何から作られたか
墓場に捨ててあった死人の衣服の布切れ
What was this made from?
A piece of cloth from a dead man's clothing
that had been discarded in a graveyard
