しるべし、摩訶迦葉は仏会 butu-e の上座なり
生前の行持、ことごとくあぐべからず
摩訶迦葉尊者、この方は
釈尊のもとに集った人々の中で
最も秀でておられた
Mahakasa Buddha
Of all those who gathered with the Buddha
This one was the most outstanding of all.
釈尊が、ご自身のお隣りに坐らせたことが
何よりも物語ってます
The fact that the Buddha made him sit next to him
tells us more than anything else.
