趙州 zyo-syu 観音院 真際 sin-sai 大師 従諗 zyu-sin 和尚
とし六十一歳なりしに、はじめて発心 ho-sin 求道 gu-do をこころざす
瓶 byo 錫 sya-ku をたづさへて行脚 an-gya し
遍歴諸方 henreki-syoho するに、つねにみづからいはく
七歳の童子なりとも、若し我よりも勝れば
我 即ち伊 kare に問うべし
百歳の老翁 ro-o なりとも
我に及ばざれば、我 即ち他 kare を教うべし

六十一歳の時はじめて、道を求める魂に満たされます
At the age of sixty-one,
Zen Master ZhoSyu was filled with the spirit of seeking the Way
for the first time.
水筒と鈴の付いた杖を持ち、新たに坐禅探求せんと旅立ちます
そして、自分に対してこう述べました
With a canteen of water and a walking stick with a bell on it
he set off on a new journey to explore Zazen
Then he stated to himself
その人の智慧の深さを、年齢で量ってはならない
直接会って、その深浅に触れよう
Do not measure the depth of a person's wisdom by age.
Let's meet person in person and touch depths and frivolity.
